Great Sand Dunes

Mule Deer

Cute Baby

The creek we had to cross to get to the dunes.

The largest sand dune called Big Dune.
It took us 1 hour to climb to the top.

My Dad and I are one of the small black
dots at the top of the dune.

A view from the top.

Luke's classic move!

Another view from the top and some rain moving in.

Coming down from the top -
walking, running and rolling!

Mom doesn't roll so well, but she's having fun!

What a day on the dunes!

A cute family!

Shaking all the sand out of Luke!

Swearing in as Jr Rangers

Another great national park!
Welcome back! Today we went to Great Sand Dunes NP. It was really awesome! Picture the Eyptian desert right next to the lush green Rocky Mts. That is what Great Sand Dunes NP looks like. We hiked on the sand dunes for about three hours. It was a very exhausting walk up! If you know how it feels to run on the beach, that's how walking up the dunes felt, but straight up. My Mom and Luke went up half way, but my Dad and I walked all 750 ft. up to the top of the highest dune! It was very beautiful at the top with all the moutians and the whole dune field. Coming back down was the fun part! We walked, ran and rolled all the way down. That was the best part! At the end of the day Luke and I got Jr. Ranger badges too. Now we are up to 6! Keep checking in for our Mt. Rushmore adventure! But first we are stopping in Denver to spend time with our new cousin, Shaelan. YEA!!
