Apple Picking in Mitchell, OR

Did you know that apples are harvested in the Fall?
Did you know that God put a star inside each apple?
Well, we found out these things and so much more
at an apple farm in Mitchell, Oregon the first week in October this year.
It was a day full of eating and picking apples,
and just laughing with friends.
*Above is a picture of our apples (about 100 pounds)
with Luke, Justyce (one of Caitlin's friends from
school and very nice young lady!) and Caitlin.
*Below we are busy picking, which was easy because of the
way they've cut the trees - most of the apples hang fairly low.
The kids had no trouble picking, when they weren't eating,
and were a huge help! Our friends, Rose Marie and Zeke
have been coming to this organic apple farm for many
years and take home about 500 pounds each year.
There were 4 different types of apples at this farm.
*Below is a tree loaded with Melrose apples.
They are juicy and mildy tart. Good for eating & cooking with!
*Below are apples called Jona Golds,
which are a cross between a Golden Delicious and Jonathan.
They were the sweetest and crispiest! Yum!!
Good for eating & cooking with also!
*Below is a beautiful maroon apple called a Spartan.
They are small and more tart than the others,
but still a yummy choice! Great for sauces & pies!
What a wonderful day out in nature and enjoying such delicious fruit!
Hey, if you are interested in coming with us next year,
let us know, because this is definitely one of those
things that will become a family tradition!
And we would love to have you join us!!
